Between 2014 and 2018 the Wilkinson Charitable Foundation supported the ‘Inspire to Teach’ programme at the Royal Society of Chemistry.
The Inspire to Teach programme was set up to promote teaching as a career to undergraduate chemists, and to support trainee and early career teachers of chemistry to help them develop and stay in the profession.
There have been a variety of activities to achieve these objectives through support from the Foundation. These activities ranged from the provision of mentoring support in Scotland, whereby probationary teachers are coached by an expert chemistry teacher, through to providing teaching content for teachers, running ‘Inspire to Teach’ training events, and supporting school-based teacher trainees from the RSC’s network of Education Co-ordinators.
